Sshe Served is a Veterans Helping Veterans organization that is dedicating their time and resources toward aiding veteran women and their children in the transition from active duty to civilian life.
WHAT WE DO
We want to help Veteran Women and their families avoid homelessness, as well as abusive, financially dependent and/or toxic relationships. With ten’s of thousands of homeless women veteran’s in the US, they are in the biggest battle of their lives. And I don’t have to tell you with the advent of the global pandemic, their risks and disperse has heightened! Also with the lack of support of housing services for women veterans with children, they are the fastest growing homeless population in the US.
"PAYING FORWARD"
Hello, my name is Sharon Sherrod. I am the CEO of Sshe Served. I am a veteran that has recently retired. I have been blessed due to my service with the armed services but I feel that it is my responsibility to “pay it forward”. I have donated funds to women veteran’s in the past. Now that I am retired, I have a passion in my heart to do more. Consequently I am providing a couple of homes to this effort. What this will do is provide two women veterans with two children, shelter and resources to provide transitional housing and help with initiating and completing an 8-step program (via the Veteran’s Administration) in personal development, vocational training, substance abuse counseling, interpersonal skills building, community involvement, leisure activities, and independent living skills. We believe that this collaborative approach to empowerment is the keystone to developing self-sufficiency.
